Have you ever felt like you aren’t being seen or heard at the office? Or have you experienced micro-aggressions from your co-workers before? Unfortunately, you’re not alone. After writing an article in the New York Times called “How to Succeed When You’re Marginalized or Discriminated Against at Work,” my guest and journalist Alan Henry went on to write his newly released book Seen, Heard, and Paid, a book all about navigating toxic work environments and giving marginalized groups of people the tools they need to succeed in their careers.

Alan Henry is a prominent journalist, editor, and author. He was previously the Smarter Living editor at The New York Times and the editor-in-chief of the productivity and lifestyle blog Lifehacker. He is now the author of the newly released book, Seen, Heard, and Paid: The New Work Rules for the Marginalized and is the senior editor at Wired.

In this episode, Alan shares how his experiences in a toxic work environment led him to write his new book. He also shares what language to use when you experience microaggressions at work and also what quantifies as a microaggression. Alan shares the importance of having “psychology safety” at work and why his most significant tip is to keep a work diary. This is a jam-packed conversation you don’t want to miss!

If you’re an avid listener of the More Money Podcast, then you'll know that I’m a big fan of index investing and playing the long game when it comes to growing your money. But, how and when did index investing start? Luckily my guest today, author Eric Balchunas, is sharing the history of the index fund and how one man named Jack changed Wall Street forever in his new book The Bogle Effect.

Eric Balchunas is Senior ETF Analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, where he leads the ETF and fund research and contributes to Bloomberg Opinion. He is also the co-creator of the Bloomberg podcast Trillions and Bloomberg TV’s ETF IQ. He’s the author of The Bogle Effect (2022) and The Institutional ETF Toolbox (2016).

In today’s episode, we learn more about the founder of the index fund and the Vanguard Group, John Clifton “Jack” Bogle. Eric deep dives into how index funds changed Wall Street, which we're still seeing the effects of in today's investing landscape. Eric is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to index investing and ETFs. I loved being able to pick his brain and get him to share his opinion on cryptocurrency and “vanilla” vs. “hot sauce” investing. I hope you enjoy this episode too!

The way we shop has changed significantly over the years and with the rising cost of goods and growing inflation, now is the time to figure out how best we can stretch a dollar and shop smarter! But what does shopping smarter actually mean? To answer that and more is my guest for today’s bonus episode, Jennifer LaForge, the General Manager for Rakuten Canada and expert when it comes to savvy shopping.

Jennifer LaForge is the General Manager for Rakuten Rewards Canada. Before joining Rakuten in 2012, Jennifer spent a decade in the online travel space working for Fairmont Hotel & Resorts, Expedia.ca, and Globus. While at Rakuten, Jennifer has facilitated and was selected as one of the Globe and Mail’s top 50 best executives in Canada.

In today’s episode, Jennifer shares why Rakuten is Canada’s number one place to save money while shopping at their favourite brands online. Jennifer explains how Rakuten works, including what affiliate marketing is and when the best time to buy certain items is based on the time of year. This episode is great for anyone else feeling the pinch when it comes to buying their essentials or wanting to save money when you’re in the mood to splurge.

Welcome back to a brand new season of the More Money Podcast! After a very busy summer, I’m so excited to be back and share lots of new episodes with you featuring some brand new guests. I’m kicking off Season 15 with a dream guest I can't believe I was able to book — author, money expert and podcast host Nicole Lapin!

Nicole Lapin is a financial journalist and TV news anchor best known for appearing on CNBC, CNN, Bloomberg, and MSNBC. She is also a New York Times best-selling author of several books including Rich Bitch, Boss Bitch, and her newest book, Miss Independent. Nicole is also the host of the daily podcast Money Rehab.

In this episode, Nicole shares her humble beginnings as a journalist including how she went from writing poetry to delving into the business and financial world. We also talk about the biggest pain points that are facing women in order to reach financial freedom and why the recent overturn of Roe v. Wade in the United States is all about money. I loved hearing Nicole’s take on financial independence, crypto, and what we can expect next from her. I am so happy to be back and look forward to sharing more new episodes this season with you!
